VAN RACKING SYSTEMS
Why is there a new van racking system?
Research and development of new technological and progressive solutions enables us to ensure that Sortimo products are always one step ahead of market requirements. This is the reason for developing SR5 as the new generation of van racking system.
Can I assemble and install a van racking system myself?
We recommend professional installation by an authorised Sortimo partner.
For which vehicle makes does Sortimo offer van racking systems?
We have the right solutions for every vehicle make and offer perfectly coordinated van racking systems for every type of vehicle.
What advantages does van racking offer me?
- optimum use of loading space, more order and time saving
- better organised and faster workflows
- Avoiding damage to the bodywork and working materials
- more safety on the road and avoidance of accidents caused by parts lying around
- Van racking available for all makes and models
- Individualisation down to the smallest detail
How will the safety of van rackings and passenger protection be ensured?
Sortimo’s van racking systems protect passengers in the event of emergency braking, evasive manoeuvres or accidents because the entire load is safely stowed in the load securing systems and BOXXes, which prevents loose parts from flying around and injuring people. The vehicle itself as well as the work equipment and tools are also protected from damage. All van rackings were manufactured in Germany and tested in crash tests under real conditions, thus ensuring a safe journey.
How can I customise the van racking for my vehicle?
Sortimo van rackings can be specially adapted to the type of vehicle and the requirements of the industry. Sortimo offers tailor-made and industry-specific solutions. Initially you can choose from a large number of vehicle manufacturers and models. In addition, individual components and accessories can be individually configured online. Of course, all the individual parts of the Sortimo EcoSystem are compatible with each other and thus enable intuitive handling. Request advice now.
What types of van rackings are there?
- SR5: configurable shelving system – latest generation
- Globelyst4: Personalisable organisation system –- based on the proven standard
- FlexRack 2.0: The efficient shelving system for parcel delivery service providers
- FR5: Flexible shelf system with folding function
How can a van racking increase my employee's productivity?
Van racking ensures order in the vehicle and ensures that employees are no longer occupied with time-consuming activities such as searching for tools and working materials, but that these are always available at hand. This makes it possible to better organise work processes and thus work faster. The travel time facility offers an immediate overview of all objects carried along and special trips due to forgotten materials can thus be saved.
Where and how are Sortimo van rackings produced?
All Sortimo in-vehicle equipment is developed and produced in Germany, more precisely in Zusmarshausen, Bavaria. This is Sortimo’s headquarters and only production site.
Despite the global market orientation, we maintain highly qualified specialists and can also guarantee lean production processes and the highest quality due to the bundling of all competences. “Made in Germany” also stands for the innovations and system solutions developed here, which always correspond to the latest state of development.
During production, we pay attention to qualitative material, competence of our employees and, of course, the requirements of our customers in order to be able to offer the best possible van racking. As our customers’ requirements change over time, we continuously consult and adapt our van rackings to customer needs and market requirements through a close connection between product lifecycle management, development and quality management.
What are the dangers of a self-built van racking?
There are various kinds of dangers with self-built van rackings. Starting with the fastening of the racking: Here Sortimo works with crash tests, simulations and many years of development experience to realise the correct connection of the racking to the vehicle via the connection points. Here it is important to have a precise distribution of forces so that in the event of braking or an accident the racking itself does not become a deadly projectile.
In addition, load securing systems, integrated fixing rails and much more help to take precautions that in some cases save lives. Integrated securing elements simplify the handling and partly secure materials and tools from falling out. In the slightest case of damage, only materials or even the vehicle are damaged if tools fall out of the rack during braking or in curves. However, if the forces are stronger, they can also be flung through the driver’s cab, causing injuries to the occupants. This is possible even with light objects and low speed.
Incorrect distribution of weights can also mean that the stability of the vehicle is no longer guaranteed in bends and other road users are put at risk. Many accidents have shown that professional in-vehicle equipment not only makes everyday work easier and more efficient, but can also save lives.
What are the disadvantages of a wooden van racking?
In order to make a wooden vehicle body strong enough to remain in one unit in the event of an impact, the material becomes extremely heavy. This means that the loading possibilities are reduced and the fuel consumption increases or reduces the range of electric vehicles enormously. Sortimo’s in-vehicle equipment is made of metal, so it is light and strong at the same time. Crash tests show that in the event of a collision the Sortimo van racking remains in one unit and does not break apart. This protects the occupants and the contents of the van racking.
Why does SR5 offer more usable space than conventional van racking systems?
Its slimline design with side profiles requires less floor space than conventional van racking systems. The contour of the vehicle is also perfectly utilised by the flexible installation.
a. Installation of the components offset to the middle of the vehicle means that the SR5 shelving ideally adapts to the contour of the vehicle. The entire depth of the shelf is retained and the roof area in the vehicle is utilised to best advantage.
b. The reduction in component height at the top means that the components are still aligned in the direction of the middle of the vehicle. The advantage of this version is that the van racking system can still be used to store panel materials, among other things. ProSafe lashing rails provide support surfaces and lashing options.
Are all vehicles available in the configurator?
A number of common commercial vehicles can already be configured. We are working constantly to expand this further.
Which products can be configured?
The configurator offers the option of configuring the SR5 van racking system complete with accessories, floors and walls.
Is SR5 crash-tested?
Yes! Like all Sortimo products, SR5 has been crash-tested under real conditions (fully loaded up to 600 kg). SR5 will remain standing even in extreme situations, offering maximum safety for the load and passengers too.
PRODUCTS
Why should I equip my vehicle with a floor and/or wall?
A professional floor and wall protects the loading space of your vehicle from damage and also helps to preserve the value of your commercial vehicle. The floor and wall also act as a foundation for the stable screw-fixing of the van racking system.
Which floor is the right one for my needs?
SoboGrip: SoboGrip is the installation floor for the individual fitting of a van racking system. It is specially designed for tough everyday life with changing loads and therefore ideal for parcel delivery services or freight forwarders.
SoboPro: SoboPro is the professional floor for your SR5 van racking system. Its integrated connection points enable the simple and fast installation of SR5 in the vehicle without the need for drill holes.
SoboPro restraint pole: The SoboPro restraint pole installation and load securing floor has additional universal lashing points in addition to the lashing points for the Sortimo SR5 van racking system.
Where can I buy floors and walls?
You need to take a number of vehicle properties into consideration when selecting a floor (position of the sliding doors, rear opening, height of the vehicle, windows, etc.) Therefore please get in touch with us.
Can I fit the floor and side walls myself?
We recommend professional installation. Contact us.
Which wall should be fitted in the event of frequent moisture in the vehicle?
The SowaFlex wall is recommended for moist conditions in the vehicle. It is made of plastic and is resistant to moisture and chemicals.
What load securing options does Sortimo offer?
Sortimo offers its own ProSafe professional load securing system to securely transport freight in your vehicle. ProSafe is integrated in uprights, beams and lashing rails. The lashing straps and load safety nets can then be hooked in with ease and the load securely lashed in place. This helps to protect the material, at the same time as saving time, weight and money. A wide range of accessories, including load safety nets, single lashing points, cargo stops or restraint poles, complete the broad portfolio.
What is “ProSafe”?
ProSafe is Sortimo’s own integrated load securing system. ProSafe is fully compatible with the vehicle manufacturer’s original lashing points.
Why do I need load securing?
Acceleration forces occur when accelerating and braking or cornering, which can affect the load whether you are in a car, van or truck. Unsecured or inadequately secured loads in a vehicle represent a danger to passengers and other road users. As a fleet manager and driver, you are responsible for the security of the load you are carrying. Depending on the circumstances, a penalty fine may be imposed in the case of inadequately secured loads. The legal basis for this is outlined, among other things, in paragraphs §§ 22 and 23 of the German Road Traffic Act (StVO) and in §§ 30 Section 1 and 31 Section 2 of the German Road Vehicle Registration Regulation (StZVO).
Can I order the WorkMo on mySortimo?
Yes, you can order different heights and widths of WorkMo modules, You can also buy a wide range of accessories
How do I secure the WorkMo in the vehicle?
Sortimo provides ProSafe load securing packages, which enable you to quickly and easily lash the WorkMo modules in the loading space. High-quality floor cups of PA6 plastic are also available. The floor cups are integrated in the installation floor and are used to quickly lock all widths of the WorkMo in position. Four ProSafe individual lashing points are supplied for professional load securing, which allow the WorkMo module to be lashed down using ProSafe lashing straps.
What is the ideal working height if I want to use the WorkMo on site as my workplace?
The WorkMo is available in two different heights (506 mm and 744 mm), enabling it to be adapted flexibly to every working situation. If you wish to use the WorkMo as a workplace on site, then we would recommend a 750 /744 mm high WorkMo for heavier work and two WorkMo 500 modules (total height 1012 mm) stacked on top of one another for more precise work.
Can I configure the WorkMo myself?
You can combine different WorkMo modules as you wish. However, we do not provide a configurator for this.
